It had hardly seemed like a year since our last visit. But once we were given the green light to go again there were no hesitations! We arrived fairly early in the picturesque little town of Arundel, all clad in uniform and looking the part of course, we grabbed some fish and chips and sat by the river just chatting and looking forward to the evening. We ambled back toward the Gaol afterwards, a few odd looks along the way but hey, we got a job to do!

As we began to unload the ever-growing expanse of equipment from our vehicles Kevin, who owns the Gaol seemed to appear out of nowhere to greet us in the car park, remembering our faces and happy to greet the new ones Kevin let us in, and seemed quite pleased with the uniforms also. With this he told us that some recent visitors to the Gaol had been picking up on new names and characters, and new things had been happening. Without given away too much Kevin handed over the keys and left us to our devices. Almost instantaneously we heard the banging and footsteps coming from overhead, again this seems to repeat itself whenever we visit here. A theory we would put to the test later on. Without delay it was time to set up equipment and triggers and get underway, our guests for the evening, Scott & Ben were itching to get underway! We had a camera in the solitary cell which could be monitored all night long, our wireless camera was in the first cell of which has been very active on recent visits. Another camera pointing toward the kitchen area, again know to be a very active area on recent trips.

The Camera Monitoring Station

After the setup and a quick caffeine shot, (pro plus for some eh Craig?) it was time to roll! Shane (newly appointed safety officer for the group) ran through the do's and don'ts, may sound silly but we take the health and safety of all guests and members at SPRG very seriously .  Liz then kicked things off with the opening prayer, we then decided to just wander the Gaol with our cameras, and two people would monitor the cameras. Clint D & Craig this time round. Almost instantly Clint D and Craig saw a twinlky anomaly on camera in the cell nearest them with the wireless camera, Angie then exited cell number two rather hurriedly after explaining that her head had been touched....here we go! A few members including guests Ben and Scott went into the video room. This used to be a cell it is now a room with a TV and an awesome selection of spooky videos. But on recent visits this room seems to throw up a lot for us, again without fail, strange noises, rustling and tapping sounds were heard. Angie picked up on a man named Jake, who had straggly hair a beard and a white shirt, what connection with the Gaol he had could not be established as he faded as soon as he arrived. Again the loud bangs were heard overhead, they seemed to be getting louder. Again puzzling as the town hall and magistrates are not occupied at this time. Craig had placed an old fashioned alarm clock in the solitary cell close to camera, if anything kicks off we have an exact time to look back on the tape rather than trawl through hours of footage. Clever stuff. But Craig seemed to notice on the monitor a strange light that seemed to circle the clock face every now and again, for no particular reason. Could have been the glare form the infa red, who knows, something we need to look into.

Several temperature fluctuations were also noted in the first cell, jumps of two degrees and then back again were picked up on the thermometers. From what Craig and Clint D could make out from the monitors it seemed that everyone had crammed into the solitary cell, this was done as sometimes a presence or two in a room can bring forth energies. There didn't seem to be too much visually but again Angie had to leave abruptly as she developed a horrific cough, and began to have breathing difficulties. Remember this was a cell where inmates would spend their final days before having their necks stretched ready for the gallows. A white feather seemed to appear in the cell after a member was merely calling out, an eerily similar occurrence happened at Michelem Priory back in September last year. Odd. Toward the end of the vigil Shane had captured some very interesting anomalies on his still digital camera. The images below indicate the change, a possible manifestation? Image 1 you can notice a few feint orbs and an odd shaped anomaly  but in image two taken seconds later, it shows something very bright (to the right by the door) and it seems to moving. Interesting.

A close up image shows the anomaly in more detail.

After an interesting first few hours it was time for a break and to setup the séance. Once again we would be using Garry's copper pipe gateway, Angie and Liz's crystals, and Clint S's letters and numbers, it all helps to bring spirits forward. As mentioned before, anything like this should never be attempted unless you know what you are doing and have at least one sensitive who can be on hand to deal with anything untoward. You never know what you are bringing forward in a séance. During the break Craig and Shane went outside, keeping in touch via walkie talkie, they would run across the front of the town hall, and we would radio them to see if the noises or footsteps could be explained. Sure enough we heard them which explained that the footsteps we were hearing were coming from street level. So that ruled that out. It was then discovered that the random banging could well have been the chef a few doors away in the kitchen at the China Palace Restaurant. There didn't seems to be any banging after 22:00 so this would probably explain that for us also.

April, Craig and guest Ben analyse some orb footage on one of our cameras.

The séance began with the usual relaxation methods, candles, incense and breathing. We tried the glass technique after about forty minutes of mediation, we had very little movement so decided to go back to our mediation. Angie hadn't said anything yet, she was trying to open up at this point. Again when we tried the glass it would move quite feeble like, and any numbers or spellings didn't seem that relevant. It seemed that whatever was there was holding back. Soon Angie opened her eyes and said "Robert, there is a Robert here". Angie couldn't seem to get a visual of him. But he was definitely there with us.  She then got the name of a lady with us called Eliza who was arrested for stealing bread and fruit from the local market, and instead of going to prison she was drowned in a pond. Ironically this was one of few words that were spelled out by the glass. Angie then picked up on her two daughters, Lucy and Mary. Lucy being the eldest. There are reports of a girl haunting the Gaol, whether this is Lucy, or Mary has yet to be confirmed. Angie then saw the two girls being taken by a wealthy man after their mother was killed, and they live in London, but not for very long Angie then said. she then faded away, but Angie quickly told us of how she can see bread being passed under the prison cell doors. That was all she could give us. After about two and half hours, we seemed to have some clear info. It was time for a break.

With time getting on, some members especially our drivers called it a night. Others held their own vigils in the cells or around the Gaol, some interesting common orbs were captured on video camera by April, Ben and Clint D in Cell 3. This is were a priest was supposed to have served a very long sentence in this cell. Before long the Gaol fell quiet as we got some rest. Almost immediately it was time to get up and get packed up. Kevin arrived right on cue to get back his keys and ask us how we got on. He always seems genuinely interested in our findings.  Angie explained about "Robert" he nodded with a smile and told us that "Robert" is the most active spirit in the Gaol, and the one most sighted by visitors and staff alike at the premises. He then asked if we had seen the "grey lady" we said no. He then explained that she used to visit the prison and deliver food to the prisoners under their doors.....is Angie good or what?! After a nice chat with Kevin we said our goodbyes and headed on home, once again a very worthwhile visit. Maybe not as eventful as previous visits, but it was nice this time round to hear and pick up on the characters that don't seem to want to leave!

A huge thank you once again to the guys at Arundel Ghost Experience for letting us have another go, we really do appreciate it. Why not visit The Arundel Ghost Experience to find out more. Also thanks to our guests for coming along, and to our inmates who cant resist saying hello on each visit. Until next time. SPRG.
